Google+ Communities

Week 3- Google+ Community Review
I had not heard of Google+ communities before so this site was new to me. I took some time looking through different communities related to education. I joined several that I thought might be interesting. One of the ones I joined was "Teachers Helping Teachers." This community had several different topics within it. It has discussion, tips, strategies, new teacher advice, technology as well as other random things. One particle article I found in this community that I liked was posted to the "tips and strategies" category and was about a website where teachers can download over 1,000 different worksheets for their students. I actually think that it might come in handy someday.
Another community that I joined is called "Best Education Apps for Kids." It, as the name suggests, has ideas for apps to use with children that are educational. It also has other topics such as discussions, videos to use in the classroom, as well as hands on activities using play doh and kinetic sand. One fun app that I found is called "Math and Pirates. Read Clocks." There are several of the "Math and Pirates" apps that pertain to different areas of math and different grade levels. There was lots of fun stuff on this community page! If kids are going to playing games on their iPads anyways, they should at least be playing some educational ones and learning something! I think Google+ communities would better fit in a high school classroom for group collaboration, a technology troubleshooting page, as well as the teacher communicating with parents outside of school.
